Gem quality Phenakite is very rare, known as one of the most pure, highest vibration crystals on Earth. Phenakite has a high refractive index (1.65-1.70), contributing to its sparkling clarity and bright luster. Due to its unique open lattice crystal structure and the nature of its atomic bonds, Phenakite has high thermal conductivity and can melt through ice, with its ability to transfer thermodynamic energy (heat) through lattice vibrations. Phenakite (also spelled Phenacite) has exceptional durability, with 7.5-8 on Mohs hardness scale, making it excellent for gemstones, jewelry or carrying with you as a pocket stone. 

Phenakite is found only a handful of localities around the world, including; Ural Mountains Russia, Norway, Mogok Myanmar (Burma), Brazil, Jos Plateau Nigeria, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Mt Antero Colorado and Maine. Phenakite is a beryllium silicate mineral, it crystallizes in pegmatites, along with other valuable minerals, such as; Aquamarine, Topaz, Tourmaline, Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires.
