About This Model

The HRK SM2558 is a British-made, single 500-series module designed for analog summing outside the box. It accepts 10 inputs in total - 8 via a front-panel DB25 connector and 2 via front-panel TRS jacks - with all inputs electronically balanced at 20kΩ impedance. The output stage uses custom HRK audio transformers driven by discrete Class A circuitry built around NOS transistors, delivering a +18dBu headroom ceiling on the summed output via rear-panel XLR. A front-panel switch engages Vintage Console Mode, which introduces harmonic saturation through the output transformers, while a MON switch routes the main outputs to the TRS jacks for latency-free direct monitoring. The first 8 inputs can be routed to the left bus, right bus, or both via PCB jumpers, giving flexible stereo placement. Drawing less than 100mA, it runs comfortably in any standard 500-series rack.
