Brunneria borealis “Northern Grass Mantis” 5”

size around 6th - 7th instar, around 5” 

This unique species native to the USA mimics long blades of grass as it can be found in meadow fields across the South.  This species is quite interesting as they are all females and parthenogenic, meaning they don’t mate and they are all females that can lay eggs without breeding. Like all mantises they should be provided with a tall enclosure with enough space to hang when they molt. Vertical branches and bark can be used as an anchor point for them to molt from.  This species was described in 1986 by American entomologist Samuel Hubbard Scudder.
